Why you need a wordpress blog on your site

I know that many webmasters are afraid of blogs. It is the classic responce “I don’t know what to write on a blog”.

But the problem is blogs are an amazing ranking factor for your site, no matter what kind of site it is. You can either have a plain HTML page, a hot-or-not script, a forum or a niche youtube clone, and a blog will still fit somewhere in there.

Oh yes. Wordpress will slide inside that little space, and slowly but steadily take more and more space until it is pushing the site up almost on its own.

Honestly, I don’t know why wordpress ranks so well. I can come up with a few reasons of course, low page depth, linkbacks and pinging, search engine footprint and some other stuff, but I cannot point my finger and say “that’s why”.

It doesn’t really matter. What matters is, that it does rank. Wordpress can be setup in like 5 minutes, and adding features to it through plugins is a breeze.

Yes, you need a blog on your site. Every site could use a blog. Even if it is at 5 pages, it will help ranking. Just add a subfolder /blog to your site, install wordpress on it and start playing around. It doesnt have to be amazing, it doesnt have to look good, it doesnt even need to have quality content on it. Just write a few posts on your niche, or about your site.

Here are some ideas on what to write on your site’s blog:

  • How the site started. It might have an interesting story to tell.
  • What was the site’s inspiration, if it is something unusual.
  • Updates on software you might have.
  • Did you add a new section? A new feature? Anything new? Announce it on your blog!
  • Did you hit a milestone? Are you at 10.000, 20.000, 30.000 members? Announce the achievement.

You get the idea. No matter what site you have, you can add a wordpress blog to it. It will help with visibility, ranking, interactivity, and it is certain to surprise you.
